May 2002BROWNSEA CUB PACK - Hazel Richardson, Cub Scout Leader Our programme after Easter concentrated on outdoor activities. We had a scavenger hunt where the Cubs were asked to find natural objects to spell out the words "Queen Mother" in a respectful reminder of the late Queen Elizabeth’s long life. One six (with a little help) nearly managed it with a leaf from a Quince tree for the letter "Q", (it was really a cherry) and a Yew for the letter "U". The other letters didn’t cause too much of a problem. We also held a wide game in Nonsuch Park organised by our two young helpers, Ben Alembick and Michael Tomlin. In good Scouting tradition, we had an evening devoted to tracking and the Country Code, and in preparation for our weekend camp, we practised pitching and striking patrol tents. We’ve also delivered Jumble Sale notices and Sally has continued in ensuring that the Cubs are keeping up with their testwork. During April we invested Joss - welcome Joss as our newest Cub. Well Done to the following Cubs who have gained badges: Adam K - Adventure Crest. Ryan and Adam M - Cub Scout Award. Several Cubs have gained the World Faiths badge, but we are yet to receive these for presentation. |
